3rd basket coming out to Powell River…delicious cough syrup and other magic…

Community Supported Herbalism

Uplifting, Refreshing and Clearing

Prepared by Amber Friedman

It’s the 3rd basket of the 2018/2019 Community Supported Herbalism Basket Program.  Time for some positive vibrations! It’s easy to focus on negativity and all the things we have to get done in life, and our pain bodies sometimes get in the way of having a positive day.  This month I created a few products to help lift your mood, clear negative energy and offer a refreshing start to any day or moment.

Smelling Salt Variety Pack a blend of essentials oils to help you transport to positive and secure emotions. These little glass vials of coarse salt and essential oils are really fun to make and they have been an integral part of my healing journey for many years. I created Love as a gentle one to bring you back into your heart.  Ground was designed to help you when you’re spinning out of control or overwhelmed with emotions to help keep your feet on the ground.  Clear is great for opening and getting rid of old energy that no longer serves you.  Try carrying them around and smelling them a few times a day to help you shift your mood. It’s simple, just smell and let the magic work.

  1. Love – rose geranium, rosewood, lavender, bergamot, tangerine
  1. Ground – vetiver + cedarwood
  1. Clear – frankincense, oregano, eucalyptus, peppermint, spearmint

Refreshing Bath Soak a wonderful way to add some calcium magnesium to your diet, take an Epsom bath soak.  This blend has lavender, chamomile and roses for added benefits of relaxation, heart medicine and uplifting freshness.  Energetically the roses are heart soothing which can help us to feel stronger and happier in life.  These salts have the essential oils of Vanilla, Patchouli, Rosewood, Lavender and Blood Orange.  A mix of grounded earth scents from patchouli and rosewood, to warm and sweet vanilla, uplifting citrus and lavender.

Patchouli + Orange Soap I always knew patchouli was magic, however until this basket I had no idea of the multitude of medicinal and energetic properties of this plant.  In Chinese medicine it’s used to treat depression, bacterial infections, fevers, malaria, headaches, colds, malnutrition, nausea, urinary stones and lots more. In Asia patchouli has a long history of use as an herbal medicine as an antibacterial, antidepressant, antifungal, aphrodisiac, stimulant, tonic and for venomous snake bites and insect stings. Use this soap to help raise the vibration.

Cough Syrup a delicious blend of wild cherry bark, marshmallow root, elecampane, thyme, clack cherry concentrate, honey, water and brandy.  This will last longer in the fridge; however, it can live out of the fridge.  It is great for kids, adjust dosage on bottle depending on their age. Wild Cherry bark has calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Traditionally used to treat coughs and respiratory complaints, an excellent expectorant and slight sedative. Elecampane is known as a lung herb to help get mucus out of the lungs, ease pain and eliminates parasites, gallstones and skin diseases. Marshmallow treats infection, helps skin, ease coughs and relieves pain.  Thyme added in to kill germs, soothing throats and boosts moods. This cough syrup is powerful for many reasons. Drink it up!
