Moisturize, Tone and Replenish Yourself
Prepared by Amber Friedman
Welcome to the fifth and last basket of this series. This month it’s all about your body, what you put on the outside goes to the inside, remember that when choosing products. Some of the herbs we celebrate with this month are Rose, Calendula, Juniper, Fennel and Peppermint. Stimulating and clearing out toxins through our lymphatic system, while moisturizing and nourishing our nervous system. Winter is an important time to do this work because we don’t get as much physical exercise this time of year, and the indoor air and heat really dry out our skin and our insides making us prone to respiratory infections and upsets.
Cocoa Body Scrub. Scrub this yummy exfoliant all over yourself and then rinse it off. Feel it stimulate and drain your lymphatic system while burning cellulite off your body. It is a mix of dead sea salts and cocoa in a base of coconut oil and olive oil with Juniper, Grapefruit and Fennel essential oils. Juniper tightens loose muscles and gives a feeling of firmness, it also acts as a detoxifier and blood purifier. It helps to remove the toxins like uric acid, heavy metals and pollutants.
Herbal Facial Steam let’s get spa ready! The directions are on the bottom of the jar, make some of this into a very strong tea. Soak a face cloth in the tea and then, when it is the right temperature, lay the face cloth on your face and relax until the face cloth gets cold. Then follow it up with some of the Facial Elixir in the basket this month, or your favorite face product. The facial steam is going to both detox and moisturize your face with the chamomile, roses and calendula herbs.
Facial Elixir is my most popular face oil. It is nourishing for your nervous system, full of roses and calendula infused in olive oil. Roses have anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the redness of irritated skin, get rid of acne, dermatitis and eczema while also clearing your pores. This face oil has carrot seed essential oil which has moisturizing vitamin E and vitamin C which work together to help bring new life to skin.
Invigorating Body Lotion is a tingly refreshing lotion that is also slightly cooling. Peppermint is relaxing and soothing sore muscles, helping to clear sinuses and also very stimulating which helps with blood circulation, varicose veins and other skin issues. It also has antimicrobial properties and can help with digestion. Use this lotion on your body in the morning when you need an extra natural jolt, or after your use your cocoa body scrub.
